Project 1Y — Diverges
This one's meant to feel meaningfully different from the adventure game, not just a fancier version of it. Pick one of the three options below.
Choose One
Option 1 — Small Simulation
A dice-based combat simulator: two fighters trade randomized damage until one falls. Introduces import random.
Option 2 — Data-Driven Twist
Separate your game's data from its logic: a dictionary of dictionaries describing rooms, read by a loop instead of hardcoded text.
Option 3 — Light Class Use
Write a Character class with __init__ and at least one other method — a first look at objects.
Requirements (whichever option you pick)
- Clearly working code meeting that option's specific requirements (full detail in the notebook)
- A short note explaining why you picked this option
- Something that feels meaningfully different from a reskinned Core game — lean into what makes your option distinct
Getting Started
Download the project notebook, save it into your 1_foundations folder in your cloned repo, and commit once you've saved it.
Before you submit: run your project top to bottom at least twice — simulations especially, since randomness means one clean run doesn't guarantee the next one won't hit an edge case.

Coming up: Project 1Z — a fully self-directed open stretch.
